Beauty

Our sense of beauty is inextricably entwined with our desire for continuity, i.e. beauty is that which defies death (and our personal/societal limitations). There is a defiance of the confinement of finiteness which drives human nature. Perhaps even the illusion of eternity is enough to be deemed beautiful, even if we know that it will all fade away.
